A unique Birmingham casting

In the run up to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Queen’s Baton has been on a 294-day journey through all the nations and territories of the Commonwealth. Meet the two alumni who designed the Baton.

Together, graduates Tom Osman (MEng Mechanical Engineering, 2004) and Kelly Raymont-Osman (BA Politics and International Studies, 2009) run Raymont-Osman Product Design, a product design and development consultancy company based in Warwickshire.

As an Official Partner of the Games, the University of Birmingham is proud to be playing a key role in delivering an outstanding international sporting event when the eyes of the world will be focused on the city. Running from 28 July to 8 August 2022, the University will be the main campus village hosting athletes, with the hockey and squash competitions taking place in our world-class sporting facilities.

Alumni, staff and students have represented the University as the Baton has travelled around the world, with many more still to come as the Baton makes its journey to Birmingham. If you are a Batonbearer or volunteering for the Games in another capacity, let us know your story.
