Shanghai Celebration
Autumn 2024 Campus Romance stars Di Kang and Cheng Gao (both MSc Communications Engineering, 2019) joined a host of Chinese alumni at a reception in Shanghai hosted by the University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), Professor Robin Mason.
Dubai Iftar
Professor Yusra Mouzughi, Provost of the Dubai Campus hosted the campus’s second Community Iftar meal with alumni and staff.
Birmingham Royal Ballet
The University of Birmingham partnered with Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) for a reception in the US ahead of a landmark performance of Black Sabbath – The Ballet.
BRB Director, Carlos Acosta (pictured, with Birmingham’s Chancellor Sandie Okoro) also received an honorary degree in the University’s summer degree congregation.
Civic Promise
During our 125th year, we reaffirmed our commitment to the city of Birmingham in an event at The Exchange, the University’s hub in the city centre. As part of this, visitors were also invited to record their own pledges to the University and the city
Botanical partnership
The University and Birmingham Botanical Gardens are cultivating a year-long partnership, enabling opportunities for unique research, which includes rewilding urban landscapes.

New sculpture
A new addition to University Collections’ Sculpture Park for Birmingham. Red Stack by Emirati sculptor Shaikha Al Mazrou was unveiled on campus this autumn.
